This is a very important book. Although there have always been people with long-term
conditions (LTCs) on nurses’ caseloads, it is only in recent years that we have recognised
the breadth and depth of these individuals’ needs, and understood how much further we
could go to meet them. For too many years, health professionals saw their interactions
with people with LTCs as episodic, repetitive and unrewarding.
